Cheaper roaming rates for Zone 1 Countries

Zone 1 Roaming information

Moose Mobile’s $15 Roaming Packs provide you with unlimited standard talk & SMS and 1GB of data for 24 hours to use while travelling overseas. It’s $15 for 24 hours or until 1GB of data is used (whichever comes first). If active, a pack will automatically start when you use your service overseas in a Zone 1 destination. Zone 2 roaming rates apply in all other destinations. If you exceed 1GB of data or 24 hours passes and you continue to roam in an eligible destination, another $15 pack will automatically apply and the 24-hour timer restarts. Any unused data will expire. We will require a $200 prepayment that will act as a credit on your account before we can activate international roaming for you. Once you have returned to Australia you can opt to have any unused amount of this credit refunded to you 30 days after your arrival.

Need to receive a banking SMS while overseas?

Receiving an SMS is FREE with Moose Mobile’s roaming service and you will not begin a roaming pack if you are simply receiving an SMS from your Australian bank to your number. You will only incur costs with roaming if you send an SMS, make or receive a call, or use mobile data.

Zone 2 Roaming Information

If you are travelling in a Zone 2 country you will be charged more expensive roaming rates for using texts, calls, and data overseas. Zone 2 includes any country that is not on the Zone 1 country list. Roaming packs will not be available in these countries. We will require a $200 prepayment that will act as a credit on your account before we can activate international roaming for you. Once you have returned to Australia you can opt to have any unused amount of this credit refunded to you 30 days after your arrival.

*If you are on an airplane, cruise ship, or some other ocean vessel, you will incur Maritime and Aerospace Roaming Charges which are around double the cost of the listed charges above. Maritime data usage can reach up to $2170 per gigabyte. One hour of streaming YouTube or a similar video service could use this amount of data.

FAQ

Do I have roaming included by default?

By default your service will come with roaming switched off. This is to prevent you from accidentally spending on roaming while using your service while overseas. Why do I have to make a $200 prepayment if I only intend to receive SMS for free while overseas?

Due to the nature of the international roaming service we can’t limit you to only receive SMS while overseas. This means that the potential for you to accidentally use data, send an SMS, or make/receive a call is still there, and we need to take a $200 prepayment which acts as a credit on your account in case these charges are used. Once you have returned from your trip overseas we can refund this amount to you.

How much data do I get with the roaming packs?

With the Moose Mobile roaming packs you will get 1GB of data for each pack while overseas. A pack contains 1GB of data and unlimited calls and texts. Once you’ve used data beyond this 1GB limit, you will be charged $15 for another pack of 1GB. Packs expire after 24 hours.

Can I use the roaming packs in any country?

You will only be able to use the roaming packs in Zone 1 countries. If you wish to use international roaming on your service in a country not listed as a Zone 1 country, then you will be charged the Zone 2 roaming rates for calls, texts, and data. If you are making use of a roaming pack while in a Zone 1 country and then cross into a country not included as Zone 1, you will not be able to continue using your roaming pack and the Zone 2 rates will apply.

Do I also get unlimited MMS on a roaming pack?

MMS messages will be free to send, but they will use data from your 1GB in order to send. Depending on what kind of media you are trying to send via MMS, this data amount will vary.

How do I cancel roaming?

To switch off roaming on your account, please call us once you have returned from overseas.
